These simplifying algebraic expressions math stations help students build a deep understanding of adding, subtracting, and expanding linear expressions with rational coefficients—including positive and negative fractions and decimals. Students practice combining like terms and simplifying expressions while strengthening their problem-solving and algebraic reasoning skills.
This product includes the following math stations.
- Colorful Expressions: Students will simplify expressions with integers and rational numbers and color a design according to their answer. (Includes 2 versions: one version students use the colors RED, YELLOW & BLUE, second verion students choose their own 3 COLORS)
- Expanding Expressions: Students will expand linear expressions in three different ways.
- Simplifying Expressions Puzzle: Given a puzzle, students will match sides with equivalent expressions and put together their puzzle.
- Writing about Simplifying Expressions: Students will answer higher-order thinking questions about equivalent expressions to develop a deep understanding of content.
- Use of the distributive property is not included in these math stations.
Each station will take about 15 – 20 minutes to complete. These would also be great to use as homework, group work or assessments. A recording sheet and answer sheet are included.
