These math stations on area, surface area, and volume explore composite shapes, surface area, and volume calculations. Students will analyze, create, calculate, explain, and apply these concepts to real-world scenarios.
The Following Stations are Included:
- Polygonal Area: Students will use their higher-order thinking skills to calculate the area of different shaped polygons.
- Surface Area and Volume: Students will calculate the surface area and volume of 3-dimensional figures.
- Applied Surface Area and Volume: Students will solve real-world problems involving surface area and volume.
- Dog House Design: Students will design a doghouse that must meet certain surface and volume conditions.
Each station should take students 15-20 minutes to complete. This would be a good two-day activity.
These math centers are aligned with common core 7.G.B.6
These would also be great to use as homework or assessments.
Recording sheet and answer sheet is included.
